Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Point Pleasant over Buffalo in every quarter on their way to victory on Monday. Point Pleasant was the clear victor by a 45-24 margin over Buffalo. The win was all the more spectacular given Point Pleasant's disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 396th, while Buffalo is ranked 63rd).
Calhoun's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Point Pleasant, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
Calhoun came up short against Point Pleasant when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 42-33. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Point Pleasant's McKenna Young, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
