Shadow Mountain is 8-2 against Moon Valley since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Matadors will welcome the Rockets at 3:45 p.m. Shadow Mountain has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Shadow Mountain fell victim to Paradise Honors and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 18-0 to the Panthers. The defeat continues a trend for the Matadors in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, Moon Valley can bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They blew past Agua Fria 14-3. The Rockets' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last eight games.
Samuel Peterson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Moon Valley's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 0-13 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Trevor Michaels and Harlan Marquez-Hill did most of the damage at the plate: Michaels went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI, while Marquez-Hill went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most hits Marquez-Hill has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Henry Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Moon Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Shadow Mountain now has a losing record of 9-10-1. As for Moon Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 4-14.
Shadow Mountain got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Moon Valley by a conclusive 15-3 score. Will the Matadors repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
