Softball Recap: Newton's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Newton entered their tilt with Heritage on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Kassidy Scott made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Scott was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Temple Howard and Joy Files did most of the damage at the plate: Howard got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, while Files went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Files is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season.

Newton's record is now 13-9. As for Heritage, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-15 record.

Coming up, Newton will host Grayson at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Heritage, they are taking a road trip to take on Central Gwinnett at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
