Rock Canyon had lost four straight, but after bumping their record up to 4-6 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They skirted past the Ralston Valley Mustangs 6-4. The Jaguars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.
Rock Canyon got a massive performance out of Dakota Dugan, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Dugan has posted since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lucy Ueland, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Rock Canyon hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
As for Ralston Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since October 9, 2024.
On Ralston Valley's side, Nina Renk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits. Renk has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Stella Emnott and Kat Mastriona did some serious damage despite the final result: Emnott went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Mastriona went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Ella Felix was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Rock Canyon is taking a road trip to challenge Eaglecrest at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raptors' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Ralston Valley, they will host Lakewood at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Tigers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
