Mesa Verde has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Rosemont Wolverine at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Mesa Verde focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Mesa Verde had just enough and edged Foothill out 31-29. The victory was just what Mesa Verde needed coming off of a 58-12 defeat in their prior match.
Mesa Verde found their leader in underclassman Jaiden Alexander, who scored six points along with 19 rebounds and six blocks. Those six blocks set a new season-high mark for Alexander. Ruby Solis was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Rosemont strolled past McFarland with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 48-31. The victory was just what Rosemont needed coming off of a 59-38 loss in their prior match.
Mesa Verde now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Rosemont, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.
Things could have been worse for Mesa Verde, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 41-26 loss to Rosemont in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Mesa Verde avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
