Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Stockton Christian

Stockton Christian extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Kayla Sanchez. The Stockton Christian Eagles came out on top against the Turlock Christian Eagles by a score of 41-33 on Friday thanks in part to Sanchez, who posted 23 points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Turlock Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Faith Hayes, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Hayes is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 12 or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Betts, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 13 points and three steals.

Stockton Christian's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-8. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.5 points per game. As for Turlock Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

The future could be bright for both Stockton Christian and Turlock Christian: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Stockton Christian will try to hand Vanguard College Prep their fifth-straight loss when the two meet at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th. Meanwhile, Turlock Christian will try to hand River Islands their fifth-straight defeat when the two meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
