He is becoming a predictor of Hoover's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 0-5 when he doesn't). Medina was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Hoover got a massive performance out of Lashawn Carey, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and six RBI. Those six RBI gave Carey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nico Zuniga, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Hoover was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Madera South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against McLane, falling 12-4.

In other batting news, Jeremiah Montes made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those RBI were his first of the season. David Moles was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Hoover took their victory against Madera South in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hoover since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
