After losing to the Woodcrest Christian Royals the last time they met, the Hemet Bulldogs decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Hemet had just enough and edged Woodcrest Christian out 40-37. Given Hemet's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Woodcrest Christian is ranked 504th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Glory Valencia was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 16 points along with 8 steals and 7 rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruby Lindsey, who scored 8 points along with 6 assists.
The win makes it two in a row for Hemet and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Woodcrest Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.
Hemet will head out on the road to face off against La Sierra at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully La Sierra focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Wednesday. As for Woodcrest Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Nogales at 5:00 p.m.
