In what's become a running theme this season, the Mission Hills Grizzlies gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They really took it to Del Norte for the full four quarters, racking up a 76-28 win at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-18.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mission Hills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maria Gorbushin, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Kyara Walter was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Del Norte had strong showings from Bailey Barnhard, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, and Emerson Cole, who scored six points along with five rebounds. That was a full 42.9% of Del Norte's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Del Norte struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Mission Hills is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Del Norte, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mission Hills will challenge the Wolverines at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Westview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Grizzlies are ranked 18th). As for Del Norte, they will head out on the road to face off against the Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Poway is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season.
