The Edwards County Lions were the 50-35 winner over the Richland County Tigers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Edwards County fell 53-45 to Richland County on Saturday. Edwards County has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Richland County found their leader in underclassman Kelysse Weiler, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Weiler has scored all season. Another player making a difference was GRAYCE BURGENER, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Edwards County's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Richland County, the win got them back to even at 12-12.
Edwards County will be playing at home against Flora at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Flora will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 478th, while Edwards County is ranked 224th). As for Richland County, they will head out on the road to square off against Mattoon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
