Pinewood is on a 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Priory is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Pinewood Panthers will take on the Priory Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Pinewood made easy work of Menlo School and carried off a 66-43 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-9.
Alex Facelo was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with two steals. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Vallory Kuelker, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Priory took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 73-19 victory over Notre Dame. Given Priory's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Notre Dame is ranked 479th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pinewood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. As for Priory, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.
Everything came up roses for Pinewood against Priory when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 72-42 victory. Will Pinewood repeat their success, or does Priory have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
