The South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Union Academy by a score of 14-12. South Stanly lost against Union Academy in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 7-0 score last time.
Kaleb Richardson threw for 143 yards and a touchdown. Drew Gaddy was his top target, picking up 66 receiving yards. On the ground, I?key Holt rushed for 90 yards.
Union Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nick Henry led the charge by rushing for 102 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker St. clair, who rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
South Stanly has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Union Academy, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Stanly will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Bessemer City at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. As for Union Academy, they will challenge Mount Airy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mount Airy will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
