The Colonial Forge Eagles were the 52-22 winner over the Hylton Bulldogs when they last played one another back in January of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. Colonial Forge was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 41-40 to Hylton.
Hylton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Raegan Cathcart out in front who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Akira Walton was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Colonial Forge bumped their record down to 2-9 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.6 points per game. As for Hylton, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-12.
Colonial Forge won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Riverbend at 6:30 p.m. on January 5th. Riverbend is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.1 points per game. As for Hylton, they will head out on the road to face off against Woodbridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
