The Penns Valley Area Rams had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy by a score of 52-49. Penns Valley Area lost against Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy in their previous head to head back in January of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 45-39 score last time.
Penns Valley Area's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayla Hopkins, who scored 12 points along with 9 rebounds. Scotty Dinges was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Penns Valley Area's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Penns Valley Area will take on Mount Union at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy, they will be playing at home against Midd-West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
