High School of the Future will head out on the road to challenge the Paul Robeson Huskies at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, things could have been worse for High School of the Future, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-30 loss to West Philadelphia. While losing is never fun, High School of the Future can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 422nd, while West Philadelphia is ranked 162nd).
The losing side was boosted by Jahanna Mitchell, who scored 15 points. That was a full 50% of High School of the Future's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Paul Robeson didn't have too much trouble with South Philadelphia on the road back in December of 2023 as they won 33-16. The win was just what Paul Robeson needed coming off of a 49-28 loss in their prior matchup.
Ashley Robinson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten steals. Robinson is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jamyshia Shell, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
High School of the Future's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Paul Robeson, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
High School of the Future beat Paul Robeson 36-24 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for High School of the Future since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
