The Amador Buffaloes will head out to face off against the Bret Harte Bullfrogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Amador is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since March 9, 2024 on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Venture Academy, sneaking past 4-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Buffaloes as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Dominic Fillmore was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bret Harte ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Calaveras 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Jack Trent made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Trent was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Camacho, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 5-for-5. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Fox Darby was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Bret Harte kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.
Bret Harte pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Amador, their record now sits at 9-10-1.
Amador suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to Bret Harte in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Buffaloes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
