The Heritage Generals are taking a road trip to challenge the Calhoun Yellow Jackets at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Calhoun will be up against a hot Heritage squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Generals were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over Adairsville on Monday. The Generals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Bailee Hollis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since September 3rd.
In other batting news, Kinley Eason was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brylee Pritchett, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
Heritage hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in six consecutive games.
Calhoun couldn't beat Ridgeland on Thursday even though they stacked nine runs on them in the third inning. The Yellow Jackets fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 16-15. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (ten), the Yellow Jackets still had to take the loss.
Breanna Baker stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Mori Henderson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Heritage's record now sits at 14-7. As for Calhoun, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-13.
Heritage beat Calhoun 9-5 when the teams last played back in August. Will the Generals repeat their success, or do the Yellow Jackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
