The Montgomery Red Raiders lost against the South Williamsport Mountaineers back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Montgomery took a 48-31 bruising from South Williamsport.
South Williamsport's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Abby Akers, who scored 26 points along with nine steals and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Akers has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Apker, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Montgomery's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for South Williamsport, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montgomery will take on Northwest Area at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for South Williamsport, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Lewisburg at 6:00 p.m. Lewisburg has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
