The Northeastern Bobcats put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They managed a 48-43 victory over York Suburban. The win was all the more spectacular given Northeastern's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while York Suburban is ranked 20th).
Northeastern's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lauralye Kennedy, who scored 16 points. The matchup was Kennedy's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Colleen Finnegan, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Northeastern pushed their record up to 12-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for York Suburban, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeastern and Susquehannock will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for York Suburban, they will head out on the road to face off against Eastern York at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
