The Helix Highlanders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Mount Miguel at home to the tune of 76-28. Helix has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 22 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Helix to victory, but perhaps none more so than Valerie Marquez, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Marquez hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Jordyn McMillan was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with nine rebounds.
The win was the sixth in a row for Helix, bringing their record for this year to 15-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Mount Miguel, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Helix's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Grossmont at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. Mount Miguel won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Liberty Charter at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th. Liberty Charter is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
