Basketball Game Preview: Lowell Red Devils vs. Merrillville Pirates

Lowell is 1-9 against Merrillville since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lowell Red Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Merrillville Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Merrillville took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lowell, who comes in off a win.

Last Saturday, everything went Lowell's way against Highland as Lowell made off with a 53-30 victory.

Braydon Cox was a one-man wrecking crew for Lowell as he went 6 of 10 on his way to 18 points. Cox has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Ezra Elenbaum was another key player, going 6 for 8 on his way to 15 points.

Lowell was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, Merrillville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 47-39 to Chesterton. The contest marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Merrillville's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Lowell, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-5.

Things could have been worse for Lowell, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-51 loss to Merrillville in their previous meeting back in January of 2024.
