Willows has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Colusa RedHawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Willows will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 920th, while the RedHawks are ranked 311th).
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought game, but Willows had to settle for a 57-54 defeat against the Trojans.
Despite the loss, Willows had strong showings from Connie Huttman, who scored 16 points, and Karla Sandoval DiMaggio, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, Colusa had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points), and they went ahead and made it 13 on Tuesday. They breezed by East Nicolaus at home to the tune of 56-23. The score was close at the half, but Colusa pulled away in the second half with 33 points.
Willows has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for Colusa, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-5.
Willows was taken down by the RedHawks 64-31 in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Colusa's Olivia Huskey, who scored 22 points. Now that Willows knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
