The Carmel Padres's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 50-25 walloping at the hands of Salinas. Carmel has not had much luck with Salinas recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Carmel still got an impressive performance from Savanna Radowicz, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lillian Grundy, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Salinas found their leader in underclassman Alice Uchida, who scored 15 points. The contest was Uchida's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alissa Escutia, who scored eight points.
Carmel's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-8. As for Salinas, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Carmel will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against North Monterey County at 3:30 p.m. on December 30th. Salinas will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Watsonville at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
