The Brownell Talbot Raiders waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They walked away with a 32-25 win over Boys Town. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Brownell Talbot also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Brownell Talbot's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Avery Nichols led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Nichols has scored at least a third of Brownell Talbot's points. Another player making a difference was Clarisa Marcano, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Boys Town had strong showings from Nyadiit Lual, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds, and Aliah Longmore-Harris, who scored nine points along with two steals. Lual is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least nine every time she's taken the court this season.
Brownell Talbot pushed their record up to 9-9 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Boys Town, College View Academy, and Omaha Christian Academy. As for Boys Town, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.
Brownell Talbot will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Eagles at 12:00 p.m. Omaha Christian Academy is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. Boys Town is on the road again on Monday and plays the Eagles on February 5th.
