The Wrangell Wolves lost against the Metlakatla Chiefs on Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Wrangell was the victim of a rough 54-34 loss at the hands of Metlakatla. Wrangell has struggled against Metlakatla recently, as their contest on Saturday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Wrangell lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aubrey Wynne. Despite the final result, she scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Alana Harrison, who scored seven points.
Among those leading the charge was Lexi Cook, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. Ryley Booth was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Wrangell bumped their record down to 2-2 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Metlakatla, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wrangell and Petersburg will face off on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
