After five games on the road, East Mecklenburg is heading back home. They will take on the Piedmont Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, East Mecklenburg was able to grind out a solid win over Sun Valley, taking the game 52-45. Given East Mecklenburg's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Sun Valley is ranked 342nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Mecklenburg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bryson Heath, who scored 16 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals. The match was Heath's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Ahmari Hicks was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Piedmont didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Central on Wednesday, but they still walked away with a 58-54 victory.
East Mecklenburg's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Piedmont, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
