The Monett Cubs will head out to challenge the Cassville Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Monett hadn't beaten Nevada on the road since October 6, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Cubs never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. Considering the Cubs have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kilee Wilson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Monett got a massive performance out of Emma Velten, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. With that strong performance, Velten is now averaging an impressive 1.4 stolen bases per game. Kenzi Waterman was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Monett hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Cassville had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 3-0.
The result came thanks to Lili Naugle's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 18 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Stoufer, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Monett's record now sits at 4-9. As for Cassville, their record is now 8-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Monett has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cassville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 12.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Monett suffered a grim 20-2 defeat to Cassville when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Cubs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
