It was a good run, but the Minden Whippets unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Gothenburg by a score of 45-43. Minden was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Swedes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played last Saturday.
Minden's loss came despite strong showings from Mattie Kamery and Kinsie Land. Kamery scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Land dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Kamery has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rozie Nelson, who scored five points along with two steals.
Minden's defeat dropped their record down to 15-3. As for Gothenburg, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Minden will square off against the Patriots on Tuesday. Adams Central will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Gothenburg, they and the Indians will face off on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Ogallala will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Swedes are ranked 23rd).
