Basketball Recap: Dixon Comes Up Short

Dixon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-49 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Brunswick Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-44 back in November.

When it comes to explaining why Dixon lost, don't look at Noah Wright. Despite the final result, he posted 21 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Wright's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Grady Adams, who earned ten points.

Jayden Daniels was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 26 points and 18 boards for South Brunswick. That's the most points Daniels has posted since back in December of 2024. Cameron Howard also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Dixon's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for South Brunswick, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Dixon will be playing at home against South Lenoir at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Blue Devils have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for South Brunswick, they are taking a road trip to challenge East Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
