If the Reading Rangers were riding high off their 64-38 takedown of the Morenci Bulldogs last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Reading suffered a rough 62-36 loss at the hands of Springport on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Reading has suffered since December 12, 2023.
Reading's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brayden Wright, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals, and Brady Kling who scored 14 points. Wright hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games.
Springport found their leader in underclassman Dallas Higelmire, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Braydon Hawes, who scored six points along with 15 rebounds.
Reading has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Springport, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.
Reading will head out on the road to challenge Bronson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bronson is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. As for Springport, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Colon at 5:00 p.m. on January 27th. Colon is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.5 points per game.
