The West Brook Bruins lost against the Beaumont United Timberwolves back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. West Brook took a 57-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Beaumont United. While losing is never fun, West Brook can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Beaumont United is ranked tenth).
Despite the loss, West Brook still got an impressive performance from Ashton Simmons, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Simmons scored a full 36.7% of West Brook's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jaylin Jones was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds.
Kayde Dotson was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points for Beaumont United. The matchup was Dotson's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ashton Green, who scored six points.
West Brook has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-8 record this season. As for Beaumont United, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 21-1.
West Brook will be playing in front of their home fans against King at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. King is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Beaumont United, they will head out on the road to face off against Humble at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Humble is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
