Redwood Christian and St. Joseph Notre Dame are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Redwood Christian Eagles will head out to challenge the St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Redwood Christian has four straight victories, St. Joseph Notre Dame has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Redwood Christian took on Athenian on Tuesday. Redwood Christian walked away with a 6-2 win over Athenian. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Gil Butler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up six Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Travis Dong was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Hendren, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph Notre Dame came up short against Encinal on Saturday and fell 7-3.
St. Joseph Notre Dame saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Dumont, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
St. Joseph Notre Dame's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Redwood Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
St. Joseph Notre Dame's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Redwood Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. It's a different story for St. Joseph Notre Dame, though, as they've only averaged .233. Will they be able to contain Redwood Christian's hitters?
