The North Georgia HomeSchool Tribe will venture away from home to take on the Scholars Guild Academy Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
North Georgia HomeSchool will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Trinity Classical on Thursday. The Tribe never let Trinity Classical get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. Considering the Tribe's hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Leighton Luck made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Jacob Harmon was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. North Georgia HomeSchool is undefeated when Harmon posts two or more runs, but 0-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kirk Dotson, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
North Georgia HomeSchool always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Scholars Guild Academy waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Lightning as they made off with an 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Like North Georgia HomeSchool, Scholars Guild Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Jacob Chupp. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Chupp has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Henry Rumble was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Ty Newton was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Scholars Guild Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for North Georgia HomeSchool, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. North Georgia HomeSchool has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Scholars Guild Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
North Georgia HomeSchool suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Scholars Guild Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Tribe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
