Cedar's defeat came about despite a quality game from Taylor Davis, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 boards gave Davis a new career-high. Hayden Kee was another key player, putting up 12 points.
Even though they lost, Cedar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Dixie beat Desert Hills 61-56 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Flyers.
Cedar better keep an eye on Tyson Forsey. He was instrumental in Dixie's win, going 8 of 19 on his way to 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jay Jay Davey, who went 7 for 10 en route to 15 points and six boards.
Dixie has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Cedar, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Cedar has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 27.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Dixie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Cedar took a serious blow against Dixie in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 79-51. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Forsey, who went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 27 points and three steals. Now that Cedar knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
