Basketball Game Preview: Credo Gryphon vs. Roseland University Prep Knights

Credo is 9-1 against Roseland University Prep since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Credo Gryphon are taking a road trip to face off against the Roseland University Prep Knights at 6:30 p.m. Credo will be strutting in after a victory while Roseland University Prep will be coming in after a loss.

Roseland University Prep better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Credo really get things going. Credo put the hurt on Victory Christian Academy with a sharp 48-26 win on Monday. The Gryphon have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 22 points or more this season.

Credo's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Maya Leach, who posted 19 points, and Reilly Fay, who put up 11 points. The dominant performance gave Leach a new career-high in points. Camila Cavazos was another key player, putting up seven points.

Meanwhile, Roseland University Prep came up short against Willits on Tuesday, falling 55-33. The Knights have struggled against the Wolverines recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Credo is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.5 points per game. As for Roseland University Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Credo beat Roseland University Prep 43-31 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Credo since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
