It was a good run, but  Richmond-Burton unfortunately witnessed the end of their  ten-match winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Rockford Christian Royal Lions by a score of  2-1. The Rockets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Royal Lions earlier this season, when they won  2-1.
 The  2-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Richmond-Burton lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 14-25,  16-14.
 Dani Hopp paced Richmond-Burton's offense, picking up 12 kills. Hopp got some help from  Josie Franckowiak and her 21 assists.  Malorie Komar controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
 Rockford Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Odessa Bucciferro led the charge by  getting 14  digs and three  assists. Those  three assists gave  Bucciferro a new career-high.
Richmond-Burton's defeat dropped their record down to 26-7. As for Rockford Christian, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won four of their last five matches. That somehow still isn't as good as their 27-5 record  this season.
 Richmond-Burton and Rockford Christian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage  in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Rockets will  challenge  Marengo  at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday with a big rank  advantage  (126 vs. 510). Meanwhile,  Rockford Christian (ranked 97th) will meet Lutheran (ranked 615th)  at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
