After flying high against the Pacific Bay Christian Eagles last Saturday, the Contra Costa Christian Cougars came back down to earth. Contra Costa Christian took a serious blow against Cornerstone Christian on Tuesday, falling 74-29. Contra Costa Christian has not had much luck with Cornerstone Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Cornerstone Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mecca Alexander, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and three steals. The matchup was Alexander's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Pamela-Joyce Allen, who scored 13 points along with five assists and five steals.
Contra Costa Christian has fallen quite a ways from their 19-5 record last season and are now at 2-4. As for Cornerstone Christian, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Contra Costa Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against California School for the Deaf at 5:30 p.m. on December 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (California School for the Deaf is ranked 794th, while Contra Costa Christian is ranked 818th). Cornerstone Christian will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Priory at 1:00 p.m. on December 16th. Priory is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
