The Community School of Davidson Spartans didn't have quite enough to beat the South Mecklenburg Sabres on Friday and fell 16-13.
Ty Sigler threw for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Sam Mack was his top target, picking up 64 receiving yards and one TD. On the ground, Nixon Willis rushed for 33 yards.
South Mecklenburg can attribute much of their success to Carter Gillis, who rushed for 72 yards and one score, and also threw for 156 yards on 12 of 20 attempts. Those 72 rushing yards gave Gillis a new career-high.
Community School of Davidson's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for South Mecklenburg, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Looking ahead, Community School of Davidson will challenge Forest Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Mecklenburg, they will face off against Ballantyne Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
