The Galt Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 43-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Union Mine. While losing is never fun, Galt can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1237th, while Union Mine is ranked 504th).
Despite the loss, Galt still got an impressive performance from Bricelina Cortez, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cortez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Akayla-Joy Gunter, who scored six points.
Union Mine found their leader in underclassman Baily Reynolds, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Adriana Cavallaro, who scored six points.
Galt's loss dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Union Mine, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Galt will face off against Bradshaw Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bradshaw Christian is on a four-game streak of home losses, Galt an 11-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Union Mine, they will head out on the road to challenge Liberty Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Liberty Ranch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday.
