The Villa Park Spartans will face off against the El Dorado Golden Hawks at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Villa Park 3, El Dorado 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Friday just wasn't the day for Villa Park's offense. They fell just short of Foothill by a score of 2-0 on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost three in a row.

Villa Park got a good showing from Jack McGuire, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. McGuire has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
Meanwhile, El Dorado hadn't done well against Cypress recently (they were 1-7-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. El Dorado sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Cypress. That's two games straight that the Golden Hawks have won by just one run.
Julian Rodriguez tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.
On the hitting side, Diego Gonzalez was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
El Dorado's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Villa Park, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
El Dorado's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Villa Park has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. It's a different story for El Dorado, though, as they've only averaged .357. Will they be able to contain Villa Park's hitters?
Everything went Villa Park's way against El Dorado in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Villa Park made off with a 15-7 victory. Does Villa Park have another victory up their sleeve, or will El Dorado turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
