Coastal Academy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the School for Entrepreneurship & Technology Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Coastal Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
Last Friday, Coastal Academy beat Monarch 48-38.
Coastal Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but London Afalava led the charge by scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Afalava is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Heiress Afalava, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, School for Entrepreneurship & Technology's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 34-26 to High Tech CV.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kameron Owens, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals. She also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karys O'Neill, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Coastal Academy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for School for Entrepreneurship & Technology, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's matchup: Coastal Academy have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40.4% of their threes per game. It's a different story for School for Entrepreneurship & Technology, though, as they've only made 3.3% of their threes per game this season. Given Coastal Academy's sizeable advantage in that area, School for Entrepreneurship & Technology will need to find a way to close that gap.
Coastal Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their match against School for Entrepreneurship & Technology in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 29-25 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coastal Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
