The Kennedy Commanders will head out on the road to face off against the Peak to Peak Pumas at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Kennedy has given up an average of 13.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Kennedy lost 15-4 to Overland on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Commanders in their meetings with the Trailblazers: they've now lost five in a row.
Aleeyah Garcia made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Peak to Peak made easy work of Jefferson Academy on Thursday and carried off an 11-1 victory. The Pumas might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by ten runs or more this season.
Karina Lefort made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Grace Trasky was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Evelyn Deemurrie was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Peak to Peak's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-13. As for Kennedy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12-1.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kennedy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .440. However, it's not like Peak to Peak struggles in that department as they've averaged .352. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kennedy might still be hurting after the 14-2 loss they got from Peak to Peak in their previous meeting back in September. Can the Commanders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
