In what's become a running theme this season, the Elkhorn Valley Falcons gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They put the hurt on Boyd County with a sharp 58-35 victory. With that victory, Elkhorn Valley brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Elkhorn Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than JJ Black, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Black is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Karlee Broberg, who scored 20 points along with two steals.
Boyd County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paige Drueke, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That was a full 34.3% of Boyd County's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Mckenzie Snyder, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Elkhorn Valley's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Boyd County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Elkhorn Valley will take on Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
