Having just played yesterday, the Covenant Christian Warriors will jump right back in to play the Sheridan Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Covenant Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 13-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Covenant Christian walked away with it. They came out on top against the Trailblazers by a score of 56-47 on Friday.
Meanwhile, Sheridan had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down Park Tudor 55-40. Given Sheridan's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Panthers are ranked 285th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sheridan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kenzie Garner, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. Garner hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Nova Cross was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
Covenant Christian's victory bumped their record up to 9-16. As for Sheridan, their win bumped their record up to 18-5.
Covenant Christian came up short against the Blackhawks in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, falling 55-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Garner, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Now that Covenant Christian knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
