Kearny has gone 9-1 against High Tech SD recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Komets are taking a road trip to square off against the Storm at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Kearny was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Hoover 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Komets have posted since April 16th.
Dominic Depositar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cameron Ackerman, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. J-Cub Perez also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, High Tech SD made easy work of Bonsall on Monday and carried off a 13-1 win. The Storm might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Nano Acevedo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for High Tech SD: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise.
In other batting news, High Tech SD got a massive performance out of Landon Carroll, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Carroll is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Izo Kobayashi, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
High Tech SD is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Kearny, their record is now 10-16.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kearny has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like High Tech SD struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Kearny took their win against High Tech SD in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Komets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
