Baseball Game Preview: Coachella Valley Mighty Arabs vs. Twentynine Palms Wildcats

For the second straight game, Coachella Valley will face off against Twentynine Palms. The Mighty Arabs will venture away from home to square off against the Wildcats at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Coachella Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Twentynine Palms' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Coachella Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Twentynine Palms 12-2 on Monday. Considering the Mighty Arabs have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jesus Rivera made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Coachella Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-7 otherwise. Rivera was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Coachella Valley let Vince Ponce and Alfredo Avalos run wild. Ponce scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Avalos scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. What's more, Avalos posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Diaz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Coachella Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
