Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Sandia Prep). They put the hurt on the Shiprock Chieftains with a sharp  18-3 victory on Wednesday. With that  win, the Sundevils brought their scoring average up to 6.7  runs per game.
 Amelia Martinez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing four innings while giving up  three earned runs off   three  hits. That's the fewest  hits  she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate,  going a perfect 3-for-3 with four  runs, four  RBI,  and two  doubles. That's the most  runs  she has posted since back in April of 2024.
 In other batting news,  Ozzi Rockey was  incredible,  firing off two  home runs, seven  RBI,  and three  runs while going 4-for-4. Those  seven  RBI gave  her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Madeline Draszkiewicz, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-4.
 Sandia Prep was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .682. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a  batting average of .308 or higher in ten consecutive  games.
Sandia Prep's first  victory this season bumped their record up to 1-11. As for Shiprock, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sandia Prep will face off against Ruidoso at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Shiprock, they will venture away from home to  challenge Hozho Academy  at 12:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
