ROGERS, Minn. - After seven lead changes,
Elk River (Minn.) took the lead for good when
Aaron Hannan ran for a touchdown with 1:00 to go in the third quarter and held on to upset
Rogers (Minn.) 53-42 on Saturday.
The Royals pulled ahead on a touchdown run by
Nick Johnson, and subsequently went into halftime leading 32-27. The Elks scored the winning points with a touchdown run by Hannan that came in the third quarter.
Connor Henderson made a difference for Rogers. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown.
Elk River's most effective player was Hannan. The junior ran for five touchdowns.
RHS came in surrendering 15.2 points per game this season.
A 17-14 Elk River victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
