Savannah Govea continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with six steals and three blocks. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for her. Jasmine Jimenez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 12 rebounds and four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Banning lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Maryanne Palacios. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points along with eight steals and five assists. Palacios scored a full 26.8% of Banning's points, the 12th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Leah Palacios, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds.
Colton has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Banning, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-8.
Colton will face off against Jurupa Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jurupa Valley has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 29. As for Banning, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Palm Desert at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Palm Desert focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Thursday.
