The Westlake Wolverines had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Patuxent with a sharp 53-28 victory on Wednesday. That 25 points margin sets a new team best for Westlake this season.
Westlake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raynna Ratchford led the charge by scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Chloe Stanford, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Westlake's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Patuxent, they bumped their record down to 3-9 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westlake will square off against Leonardtown at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Leonardtown presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Westlake in Maryland (Leonardtown is ranked 83rd, while Westlake is ranked 207th). As for Patuxent, they will head out on the road to face off against McDonough at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully McDonough focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday.
